One killed after car misses ferry ramp, plunges into Indian Ocean

One person died after a car they boarded plunged into the Indian Ocean in Mombasa on Monday.
There were three people aboard the vehicle - Toyota Probox model - at the time of the accident.
Eye witnesses said two more people, among them a child, remained trapped under the water following the 4.45pm incident.
Likoni OCPD Willy Simba said the driver lost control of the vehicle at the ramp while disembarking from the Kilindini ferry.
Divers from the Kenya Ferry Services and the Kenya Navy, who arrived at the scene of the accident 30 minutes later, called off the rescue mission when darkness made their work difficult.
The driver's body was retrieved from the water; heavy waves rocking the ocean hampered the search those stuck in the submerged car.
NYS officers control the huge crowd that built in the area when news of the accident spread.
